This technique is still experimental. A new study now suggests that vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene may be beneficial with BCG in preventing new tumors.
Stage I or A
TNM T1, N0, M0
The tumor is superficial. It does not invade through the lamina propria and cannot be felt. There is no spread to lymph nodes and no metastases.
Standard Treatment Same as for Stage 0.
Five-Year Survival Over 75 percent
Investigational Same as for Stage 0.
Stage II or B1
TNM T2, N0, M0
The tumor invades through the lamina propria into the inner half of muscle. Using two hands, the physician can feel the tumor before surgery.
